Hyderabad: Dismissing the allegations against him on stalling work on the 2-BHK housing scheme in Ambedkar Nagar Slum of Sanathnagar Assembly constituency of Hyderabad, former legislator M Shashidhar Reddy said on Saturday that the allegations were baseless. He said that it was Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao who was in league with some private land owners whose land was clubbed with the slum land and made them to file cases to stall the scheme.

In a letter to Minister KT Rama Rao on Saturday, Shashidhar Reddy said he did not want to comment on the language used by the minister, which has become a trademark of him and his father and would leave it to people to make a judgment about it.

Shashidhar said that Ambedkar Nagar slum was notified under the Slum Improvement Act 1956 in 1990, when Sanathnagar Constituency was represented by Dr Marri Channa Reddy. Pattas were issued during the period when he (Shashidhar Reddy) was a Minister in 1993-1994 and had resisted a move to shift the slum dwellers during the TDP government period between 1994-2004.

The proposal for construction of houses made by him when he was MLA could not be taken up in Ambedkar Nagar as the officials - both GHMC Commissioner and Hyderabad Collector at that time had cited the Supreme Court order which had restrained ``any construction in or around the lake (Hussain Sagar) except with the permission of the court”.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, on a visit to Ambedkar Nagar on Vijaya Dashami day, October 2, 2014, announced that construction of 2 BHK houses will be commence within 15 days; but nothing moved in the direction later.

The locals were told that the scheme would be taken up in an alternative land and it was rejected. KT Rama Rao performed Bhoomi Puja there on May 16 this year, to cheat the people by creating a false impression that government would go ahead with the construction. Ministers KTR and T Srinivasa Yadav instigated a private land owner to file a writ in the High Court and got an order restraining his dispossession in violation of the 2013 Land Acquisition Act.
