Hyderabad: Though the notification for the recruitment of 8,792 teacher posts was issued, the state government’s move to fill the district cadre posts may face legal hurdles in view of the new districts.

As per the Presidential Order, recruitment in any government department would have to be done at district-level, zonal-level and state-level taking into consideration the previous 10 districts only. Without amending the Presidential Order, recruitment cannot be made for the 31 districts.

The local status of the job aspirants has to be decided based on the Presidential Order. It is mandated that the candidate must study at least four years continuously in a particular district to get local status. The major challenge before the government is to overcome the legal hurdle.

Unless the Presidential Order is amended, the job-seekers from new districts cannot get local status. The notification, however, said that the job-seekers can either opt for the place where they studied or their place of birth based on which the nativity would be considered.

Telangana Udyogula Sangham president A Padma Chary said that the issue of the teachers’ notification was against the Presidential Order and it would attract violation of the order if the recruitment is done taking 31 districts into account.

The notification could give scope for legal complications, he said.Meanwhile, the government on Saturday issued notification to fill 8,792 teacher posts in the Education department. Of this 5,415 are secondary grade teacher (SGT) posts, 1,941 School assistant posts, 1,011 language pundits, 416 physical education teachers (PET) and 9 posts of school assistant (physical education) posts. The notification mentioned that applications would be received from October 30 to November 31.

Examination would be conducted in February second week. Since the selection process is taken up at district-level, the exams would be conducted in 31 districts. The candidates who apply for school assistants, language pundits and secondary grade teachers would be selected based on the performance in the written test and 80 per cent weightage would be given for written test and 20 per cent weightage for teacher eligibility test (TET).

For the post of PET and school assistant (physical education) , the selection would be based only on the merit in the written exam and no weightage will be given to TET. Unlike in the past, the examination would be conducted by the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC).
