Hyderabad: The government is mulling a real-time control centre at Hyderabad to integrate all the tertiary care hospital across the Telangana state. The control centre will allow higher officials in Hyderabad to monitor and assess the hospitals’ administration through live video streaming on their mobile phones.

All hospitals under the Directorate of Medical Education (DME) have already installed the closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras. The DME has directed the superintendents of the hospitals to send the details of IP address to integrate with the control centre.

The Telangana State Medical Services Infrastructure Development Corporation (TSMSIDC) had procured the CCTV cameras for Niloufer hospital, Osmania General Hospital, Gandhi Hospital and Government Maternity Hospital, Petlaburj. The DME told the superintendents to use the contingency and Hospital Development Society (HDS) funds for additional CCTV cameras, if required. The superintendents must identify strategic places for installing the cameras.

Dr K Ramesh Reddy, Director of Medical Education (DME), has been monitoring the situation at Niloufer hospital through a mobile app. He has been directing the officials whenever he finds anything amiss in the functioning of the hospital. Some issues have been resolved immediately due to this monitoring system, Ramesh Reddy told The Hans India.

Superintendents and Resident Medical Officers (RMO) have been asked to monitor the hospitals through mobile phones. The new facility will enable the DME to suggest improvements and issue orders without physically visiting them. “All superintendents of hospitals have been asked to conduct a drill with help of security agencies the local police to get a feel of the new system,” he said.
