Events at the annual technical festival ‘Technozion’ of National Institute of Technology, Warangal (NIT-W) got underway on Friday in a lively manner.As many 11,000 students including 6,000 in-house students and 5,000 students from across India and the SAARC countries are expected to participate in the three-day tech fest representing their colleges.

As many 11,000 students including 6,000 in-house students and 5,000 students from across India and the SAARC countries are expected to participate in the three-day tech fest representing their colleges.

The formal inaugural ceremony of the fest took place on Thursday evening. The inaugural was attended by Shantha Biotechnics founder and chairman KI Varaprasad Reddy, Warangal Urban District Collector Amrapali Kata and the institute Director Prof NV Ramana Rao and the faculty of NIT-W.

The Director, NV Ramana Rao, said the students from nearly 800 institutes are participating in the fest, which is the largest technical fest in South India. The fest is aimed at bringing out creative and engineering talents of engineering students and to offer them opportunity to showcase such talent.

This years’ theme ‘Alquimia’, with the tagline ‘Transforming ideas to innovation’ clearly represents the objective of Technozion. The students should come up with best of their ideas to carry forward the spirit of the fest, he suggested.

‘The fest gives us a chance to showcase our abilities and to interact with thousands of engineering students arriving here with ideas and to display their skills. It is a unique event and boosts our knowledge,’ said NIT-W students Raghavendra and Heshmanth.

Events like a 24-hour Makeathon, ‘you’ve got only 60 seconds, robodance, wreckage, mobile controlled robots, robowars automation and instrument exhibition and science expo began on Friday. Students of various private and government schools have also displayed their exhibits and displayed them.

A hospitality robo named Mitra design and conceived by Bengaluru-based robotics start-up stood as an attraction on day. Large number of queued up before the robo, which greeted the visiting students.
