Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) saw an increase in revenue over past two financial years. During the financial year 2014-15, the Department generated revenue of Rs 250 crore but now HMDA netted revenue of Rs 425 crore from various development charges.

Up to September 2017, the HMDA had collected revenue of Rs 162 crore from layout and building permissions, Rs 16 crore from change of land use, Rs 223 crore from Land Regularisation Scheme and Building Regularisation Scheme, Rs 4 crore from complex rents and leased lands and Rs 13 crore from parks.

It had received Rs 45 lakh from advertisements, Rs 2 crore from interest on savings bank account, Rs 1 crore on sale of plants, Rs 47 lakh from road cutting charges and Rs 1 lakh from miscellaneous receipts.

According to HMDA officials, they had approved a total of 314 draft layouts and building permissions of which in 2014 around 58 offline draft layouts and building permissions were approved, in 2015 nearly 78 offline draft layouts and building permission, in 2016, 120 offline permissions and 131 online permission had been approved, whereas in the year 2017 upto October 25, 2017, 41 offline and 273 online permissions had been approved.

When enquired about the same, HMDA Commissioner T Chiranjeevulu said that in the past two years revenue of HMDA had increased when compared to previous years.

He said that in 2013-14 revenue was Rs 356 crore; 2014-15 Rs 250 crore, in 2015-16 Rs 365 crore, 2016-17 the Department received Rs 399 crore and 2017-18 up to September 2017 revenue went up to Rs 425 crore.

He also said that the HMDA had received 1,74,000 LRS applications of which 77,100 applications had been approved, 50,000 are rejected and the remaining pending.
