He said the Kakatiya Urban Development Authority (KUDA) Master Plan, which was prepared in the past, was not meeting the requirements of fast growing Warangal city. Hence steps should be taken to revise the Master Plan keeping view of future needs of the city.

He said the Kakatiya Urban Development Authority (KUDA) Master Plan, which was prepared in the past, was not meeting the requirements of fast growing Warangal city. Hence steps should be taken to revise the Master Plan keeping view of future needs of the city.

The Deputy CM chaired a review meeting on the KUDA Master Plan, HRIDAY and Smart City Mission works in Hanamkonda on Sunday. He told the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) and the district administration officials to prepare the draft Master Plan by December 15.

The Master Plan should be made available for public debate involving stake holders, officials, public representatives, prominent persons in the city and experts till December 31. Efforts should be made to release the draft notification by next January 1 and by March it should be submitted to the government for its approval, Srihari suggested.

He wanted the officials to assimilate the proposed Outer Ring Road (ORR) at Warangal, Kakatiya Mega Textile Park and roads connecting Warangal city with Hyderabad, Karimnagar, Mulug, Narsampet, and Khammam while drawing development plans. The city should be divided into zones for an integrated development as part of the Master Plan.

Similarly, the Deputy CM asked the officials to take measures on war foot basis for the city development under Smart City Mission. Detailed project reports for the first phase works, which were to be completed by December 2018, should be prepared and tenders called for.

During the next three years it was planned to spend Rs 2,750 crore of which, State and Central governments would sanction Rs 500 each and projects worth Rs 1,700 crore would be executed with public participation as part of the mission.

Referring to National Heritage City Development and Augmentation Yojana (HRIDAY), Srihari said works worth Rs 35 crore would be executed. Development of historic Thousand Pillar temple, Padmakshi Temple, Fort Warangal and other parts of the city would be taken up.

The State government has released Rs 600 crore during the last two years as promised by the Chief Minister, K Chandrashekar Rao, towards the city development. The funds should be utilised effectively along with central funds to ensure all round development of Warangal city MP P Dayakar, MLAs D Vinay Bhasker, K Surekha and Ch Dharma Reddy, Warangal Urban Collector Amrapali Kata, Warangal Rural Collector Prashanth J Patil, Municipal Commissioner Sruthi Ojha, Mayor N Narender and KUDA Chairman M Yadava Reddy were present.
