Rajya Sabha member Renuka Chowdary speaking at the SERP employees' protest in Khammam on Tuesday
Khammam: Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member Renuka Chowdary has criticised the State government for ignoring the plight of farmers. After interacting with the cotton farmers at Agriculture Market Yard here on Tuesday, she said that the State government which claims itself as pro-farmer has done nothing for the farming sector.
“All that the government had achieved is hand cuffing the farmers and supplying spurious seed,” she ridiculed. She expressed her dissatisfaction over the way the cotton purchases are made in the market. Later, she expressed her solidarity with the Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty (SERP) employees’ strike. She demanded the government to regularise the services of SERP staff.
