Warangal: A young cotton farmer has allegedly committed suicide by consuming pesticide at his agriculture field under Atmakur police station limits. The deceased, called as Rasamalla Rajender (33), belongs to Kothapet village of Warangal mandal in the district. According to sources, the farmer has sown the crop in seven acres, of which he owns one acre and the remaining six acres were taken on lease.

Due to bad weather conditions, he could get only 20 bags of cotton in first picking. On Monday, he took the produce to Enumamula agriculture market. But he could not get proper price as the price offered to the produce ranged between Rs 2,000 to 3,000 per quintal in the market on that day.

He distributed the money he got after selling the produce, to labourers towards their wages. Dejected at the low price he was offered, he came back from the market in the evening and during late evening hours of Monday he went to his agriculture field, where he committed suicide. The family members found his body at the field on Tuesday morning. He was said to have borrowed Rs 4 lakhs from different sources and worried about repaying the loans.
