It was the proverbial case of third-time lucky for Telangana State\'s rising table tennis talent S Fidel R Snehit. In a tantalisingly nail-biting summit clash that stretched into late Saturday night, he overcame the Manav Thakkar blues to win his first Junior Boys title in the National Ranking Championships (West) at the Dadoji Konddev Stadium here.

In a tantalisingly nail-biting summit clash that stretched into late Saturday night, he overcame the Manav Thakkar blues to win his first Junior Boys title in the National Ranking Championships (West) at the Dadoji Konddev Stadium here.

In the process, he became the first Telugu boy to win the coveted title.The in-form paddler, Thakkar, fresh from Borth Zone men title, could not stop his Airports Authority of India (AAI) opponent, who posted a 11-6, 3-11, 11-9, 9-11, 14-12, 11-6 win.

‘Full marks to Snehit him for executing the game-plan to clinical precision. It was Snehit's day,’ asserted an absolutely delighted S Raman, under whose wings Snehit has been honing his skills for the past few months.

According to Somnath Ghosh, who trained Snehit at the Hyderabad-based Global Table Tennis Academy (GTTA), ‘the boy will go places with his dedication and diligence.’

"I am extremely happy with this victory against Manav,” said Snehit, who is second best Indian Junior player in the world ranking behind. Telangana State Table Tennis Association President A Narasimha Reddy and Secretary Prakash Raju hailed the achievement.
