Both CBSE and ISCE boards have given their approval for implementation of the state language from Class 1 to XII from the academic year 2018-19. A report on the draft policy of Telugu as a mandatory subject was submitted by the sub-committee constituted by the government to the deputy chief minister and education minister Kadiyam Srihari on Tuesday.

While the CBSE and ICSE put forth necessary rules for the mandatory implementation of a language in respective states, it is still unclear whether Telugu would be offered as a second or third language.
