In a bid to equip the tribal farmers with the modern farming techniques, the administration has selected 46 farmers from the district. Disclosing this here on Thursday, the District Collector Preeti Meena has said that the initiative aimed at providing modern crop production techniques that would help the tribal farmers grow economically.

Mahabubabad: In a bid to equip the tribal farmers with the modern farming techniques, the administration has selected 46 farmers from the district. Disclosing this here on Thursday, the District Collector Preeti Meena has said that the initiative aimed at providing modern crop production techniques that would help the tribal farmers grow economically.

“The selected farmers would be given training in agriculture, horticulture, floriculture, vegetable, dairy and aquaculture. The farmers will be taken to various universities and research stations spread across different states,” the collector said.

Tribal Cooperative Finance Corporation Ltd (TRICOR) is organising training programme in association with International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT), she said.

It is learnt that the tribal farmers will be taken to Prof Jayashankar Agriculture University in Hyderabad, Indian Institute of Horticultural Research in Bangalore, Horticultural Research Station, Indian Agricultural Research Institute in Pune and Aurangabad etc. as part of study tour.

Of the 46 farmers, 16 will be given training in modern agriculture techniques, two in aquaculture, five each in horticulture and floriculture, nine each in vegetable cultivation and dairy. The training programme will commence within a short time, the collector said.
