Hyderabad: The Osmania University (OU) and Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) postponed examinations and certificate verification process scheduled for December 5 and 6. The decision comes after a State-wide bandh for all educational institutions was called by student organisations.

The Osmania University in a press release on Monday said the examinations in the campus, constituent and affiliated and autonomous colleges of Osmania University scheduled on December 5 and 6 are postponed. The rescheduled dates will be announced soon, it said. Similarly, the II phase of M Ed certificate verification has been rescheduled and the fresh dates will be notified by SMS and on the university website, it said.

The JNTU-H said the examinations scheduled on December 5 have been cancelled and the rescheduled date will be announced soon.

However, the examinations scheduled for December 6, will be held as per schedule, it said. Meanwhile, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) called for a State-wide bandh for educational institutions on Tuesday to protest the baton charge by police on OU students on Sunday night.

In a press release, the student organisation demanded that the State government announce compensation to the family of Murali, an OU student who had committed suicide on Sunday night. It also asked the State government to shun its adamant attitude towards students, youth and unemployed in the State.
