Police busted a racket thriving on stealing copper wires from transformers from various parts of the Nalgonda district and arrested the gang of four members including a women on Thursday. A two-wheeler, an auto and copper wire bundles worth of Rs 1,50,000 stolen from five transformers and cash of Rs 2,40,000 were recovered from the accused.

Nalgonda: Police busted a racket thriving on stealing copper wires from transformers from various parts of the Nalgonda district and arrested the gang of four members including a women on Thursday. A two-wheeler, an auto and copper wire bundles worth of Rs 1,50,000 stolen from five transformers and cash of Rs 2,40,000 were recovered from the accused.

Police said the copper wires acquired from the stolen transformers are fetching them good sum. On complaint of lineman Panaganti China Somaiah at Nidmanoor police station, the police team apprehended the offenders while they were taking away copper wire in an auto from an electrical transformer located at near the graveyard of Nidmanoor in Nagarjunasagar assembly constituency in the district.

The arrested persons have been identified as Kapati Srinu (50) of Lingala of Nagarkurnool district, Pambali Ravi (28) of Petulla of Ibrahimpatnam mandal in Ranga reddy district,Kambampati Alivelu (30) Lingala of Nagarkurnool district, Kambampati Rambabu (30) Shirasana Gandla of Peddavura mandal in Nalgonda district.

They were involved in stealing of copper wire from 30 transformers located at Halia, Tripuraram, Vemulapally, Tirumalagiri, Adavi Devulapally and Peddavura mandals in the district. They easily open the transformers, remove copper wire and pack in the gunny bags before decamping from the scene of offence.
