Hyderabad: In order to make the city greener, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) chalked out an action plan for plantation drive 2018-2019. The officials are contemplating to plant nearly 160 lakh saplings under the limits of HMDA.
To develop the greenery of Outer Ring Road (ORR) 50,000 plants will be planted on service roads, 1 lakh shrubs and 50,000 trees on Main Carriage Way (MCW), one lakh on Railway corridor, 5 lakh plants for beautification of interchanges, 2 lakh at refurbishment on ORR and 5 lakh for refurbishment of ORR medians.
Nearly, 3 lakh saplings will be planted at Musi River Front at Uppal Bhagath, 5 lakh plants will adorn the lakes under HMDA, 10 lakh plants for the development of greenery in municipal areas and Nagar Panchayats.
Apart from ORR and Uppal Bhagath, around 2.50 lakh saplings will be planted under HMDA limits, 2 lakh avenue plantation and medians on radial roads, 3 lakh refurbishments of HMDA parks with shrubs, 25 lakh plants for HMDA layout through developers and industrial areas, 5 lakh at theme park in HMDA at Keshavapuram.
The plantation drive will also be taken up at New MLA quarters in Himayath Nagar where nearly 4 lakh saplings will be planted, 4.50 lakh at refurbishment of parks, road medians and flyovers, 1 lakh on Necklace road, 30 lakh plants will be distributed to villages, panchayaths, municipalities under HMDA limits, 40 lakh will be distributed to government organisations, institutes, education institutions and 10 lakh plants will be distributed to individuals on selected locations including schools, nurseries and other areas.
