TS Govt asks Israel to audit Telangana's Cyber Policy
The Telangana Government is determined to attain global standards in establishing cyber security ecosystem and has sought support from Israel to devise necessary policy framework, said IT Department Principal Secretary Jayesh Ranjan.
Hyderabad : The Telangana Government is determined to attain global standards in establishing cyber security ecosystem and has sought support from Israel to devise necessary policy framework, said IT Department Principal Secretary Jayesh Ranjan.
“Israel’s National Information Security Agency (NISA)’s success in creating a formidable cyber security framework is very impressive. Israel’s three-staged approach of ensuring robustness and resilience at the institutional level driven ably by an involved leadership at the top is worthy of emulation. We seek Israeli expertise in diagnosing our State government cyber policy and provide an audit report on it to help us create a secure ecosystem in Telangana,” said Jayesh Ranjan while speaking at the inaugural session of the two-day International Cyber Security Conference 2017 here on Thursday. He announced that the government’s Security Operations Centre (SOC) in Hyderabad would start operations before the end of December. The SOC will be housed at the Sate Data Centre and will focus on protecting critical infrastructure of the government.
Top experts in Information Security, Data Security and IT Infrastructure are taking part in the second edition of the annual conference, being organised by Kenes Exhibitions with support from Telangana government, Cyberabad Police, Cyber Society of India, Information Israel, and Bangalore.
“India has adequate human capital and with Industry-academia collaboration can, like Israel, create abundant talent pool required to achieve global standards in cyber security,” said Dr Shai Moses, Consul for Trade and Economic Affairs, Consulate General of Israel, Bangalore. “Israel see great potential for business partnerships with Indian companies and we welcome the IT players to explore collaboration opportunities with Israel companies,” said Moses.
Making a detailed presentation on Israel’s journey towards emerging as a global leader in cyber security systems, Ram Levi CEO, Konfidas, emphasized on a strategic approach to cyber security. “In this age of hyper connectivity and excessive reliance on Internet, cyber threats are a reality that we have to deal with. We cannot defend everything and at all times. So, we need to identify critical infrastructure based on parameters like contribution to nation’s GDP’s, significance to continued functionality of key assets etc and build capacities to defend them” Ram Levi elaborated.
