Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao said he will make key announcements for the promotion of Telugu on the concluding day of the ongoing World Telugu Conference (WTC).

Attending as the chief guest at the Sathavadhanam by G M Rama Sharma at Telangana Saraswatha Parishad (TSP) here on Sunday, the Chief Minister said his announcements would make the lovers of Telugu language across the world happy. "They will be practical to implement than something that would remain on paper forever," he said.

Recollecting his journey along with his teacher to Hyderabad to participate in a poetry competition way back in 1974, the Chief Minister praised the role of great teachers who inspire their students with immense patience.

KCR said he and Telangana Sahitya Akademi chairman Nandini Sidha Reddy had a difference of opinion over holding the WTC in the present ‘mummy and daddy times’. However, every venue where the programmes have been going on for the last three days as part of the WTC is jam-packed, with people and participants.

Similarly, enthusiasm is being shown by the people in attending the cultural programmes organised at the LB Stadium and other venues during evening sessions. The sheer number of writers and poets responded to take part in different segments of the Telugu language and literature in the WTC is an indication that there is no dearth of writers and poets and lovers of Telugu language in the state.

On an emotional note, KCR said he was happy the way the WTC has been taking place and said he had taken a diversion from the way of literature. “Incidentally, I am a Chief Minister and Nandini Sidha Reddy is chairman of TSA. But, we are serving as volunteers during the WTC,” he said.

He assured that his government will bring back the lost glory to the poets and men of letters in Telangana. It was due to the inspiration and dedication bestowed upon his teachers he could still remember what they had taught him, he said.

He also recited two poems, one from ‘Manucharitra’ and ‘Parijathapaharanam’ by two famous Telugu poets, Allasani Peddana and Nandi Thimmana, respectively. Later, he felicitated G M Rama Sharma who had performed Sathavadhanam.
