Sircilla: The Sircilla district, represented by IT Minister KT Rama Rao, which has the distinction of becoming the first open-defecation free district in the State, has now set its eyes on ensuring litter-free roads. The objective of the district administration is to make all roads litter-free.

Initially, the administration declared the two-kilometer arterial road between Yellamma circle to Ambedkar junction that leads to Hyderabad as litter-free zone. The denizens littering on this road will have to pay a hefty fine up to Rs 5,000 to the civic body. The civic body has put up signboards all along the road indicating that people infringing will have to pay penalty.

District Collector Krishna Bhaskar said that the administration had already created awareness among the people and shopkeepers about the initiative. Efforts are also on to keep the entire town clean as part of Swachh initiative.
