Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has plunged into action to set the things right in the bureaucracy, post major reshuffle of IAS officials which created a storm in the state administration.
Following reports that some senior IAS officials were peeved with the government for allotting them low-key posts in the fresh reshuffle of 27 IAS officials two days ago, KCR on Thursday reviewed the functioning of the state administration and analysed the performance of the senior IAS officials in detail.
The Chief Minister held a meeting with CMO officials and enquired the impact of the mass transfer of the bureaucrats, including senior most IAS officials on the functioning of the administration. The portfolios allotted to the senior officials in the reshuffle took centerstage in the meeting.
Special Chief Secretary Suresh Chanda has reportedly gone on leave after he was given a post below his rank. He was appointed Member Secretary to the State Finance Commission in the reshuffle. Sources said the CMO officials spoke to some senior most officials who were unhappy with the posts they were allotted.
Extension of the term of the incumbent Chief Secretary SP Singh for three months and if that cannot be done, the names of those who fit the bill from among the senior bureaucrats also came up for discussion.
The government has already written to the Centre seeking three months extension to the incumbent. The other names considered, in case the Centre does not extend his term, were Special Chief Secretaries SK Joshi (Irrigation) and Ajay Misra (Energy).
It is learnt that in two or three days, KCR may take a call on the fresh allocation of the posts of the senior officials who were unhappy after their transfer.
The Chief Minister is keen on appointing capable officials as District Collectors in many districts and Secretaries to key departments to achieve the desired targets set by the government.
As the Assembly elections are just 18 months away, KCR wanted to create a strong administrative team at district and Secretariat level to fulfill all the targets.
Taking into consideration all these issues, the Chief Minister is planning to transfer some more officials in the key departments soon.
