Hyderabad-based Mogilipally Srinivas Gupta has been helping underprivileged people to get basic facilities for last 25 years

- Srinivas has been cremating unknown bodies for last 25 years
- He provides free ambulance service for people who cannot afford it
- Through Real Vivek Foundation, he is helping people in distress

Helping unknown people gives us the utmost satisfaction in life and Hyderabad-based Srinivas Gupta has been doing the same for more than 25 years. Since 1992, he has been helping beggars, children’s and elderly people to get basic medicine and shelter. He also cremates the orphan bodies with the help of city police.

Whenever he finds a poor patient, he takes them to hospital and gets them admitted, in case of children; he enrolls them in orphanage homes. Speaking with The Hans India, Srinivas Gupta shared how he began his social service.

“It all began in 1992 when I saw a beggar fall down on street at Monda Market. Many people assumed he was dead but I took him to Gandhi Hospital where he recovered after 15 days of treatment. At that time, I decided to help the poor and needy people all over the city and started my services,” said Srinivas Gupta.

Until today, Srinivas has helped more than 4000 people in various services all over the city. He also founded ‘Real Vivek’ foundation in 1992 for charitable work to help people in distress. Srinivas has been helping senior citizens, physically handicapped, HIV affected, cancer patients with their treatment. The patients are treated at Gandhi hospital and then moved to old age homes for remaining minor treatments.

In addition to helping unknown people recover from their health condition, he has also been doing the last rights for unknown or unidentified dead bodies. The Telangana police and a few friends have helped him with the cause.

He never took a penny as donations for any of his work. “I have my own business and I spend my earnings for this work. Every month I spend more than Rs 2 lakh for serving the needy. City police is aware of my cause and calls me if they need any assistance. I work 24 hours a day and on an average, cremate two bodies daily,” added Srinivas Gupta.

After watching Srinivas’s great work, collector of Ranga Reddy district, M Raghunandan Rao gifted him an ambulance six months ago. Gandhi General Hospital, Osmania General Hospital and many police stations in the city have small posters of Srinivas with his contact number. He also runs a free-of-cost ambulance service for those who can't afford basic medical facilities.
