Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Thursday attended the India Today Conclave South 2018 held in Hyderabad where he said that Telangana is ahead of other states in the country in terms of economic development and growth.

Urging the Centre to aid states like Telangana which are growing faster, KCR said the wealth of the states will ultimately become the wealth of the nation and requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to grant more funds and powers to the states.

Highlights from KCR’s speech include -

  • States need to have own reservation policy based on their specific requirements.
  • No comparison with Andhra Pradesh as Telangana is ahead of the neighbouring state.
  • Telangana like other states is trying to have cordial relations with the Centre.
  • Telangana's population involves 90 percent of SCs, STs, backward classes and other weaker sections, hence 50 percent reservation won’t satisfy the public.
  • Will remain equidistant from BJP and Congress as there is no requirement but anybody can come with TRS.
  • Telangana has become number one state in the country in terms of own resources within a short span of three and half years.
  • The state government is spending Rs 40,000 crore annually on welfare schemes which is the highest by any state in the country.
  • Telangana will be launching a new scheme to provide Rs 8,000 as investment assistance per acre annually to 71 lakh farmers.
  • Seeking an investment of Rs 20,000 crore to Rs 25,000 crore loan from a bank in China for various infrastructure projects in Hyderabad and to make it a truly global city.
  • Will use the allotted share of water from Godavari and Krishna rivers to irrigate one crore acre of land by 2020.
