State Principal Secretary Agriculture C Partha Sarathi inaugurating the new office premises of the State Seed Certification Authority in Hyderabad on Monday
Hyderabad: For first time in Asia, Hyderabad will be hosting the International Seed Congress in 2019. State Principal Secretary Agriculture C Partha Sarathi disclosed this on Monday and said the Seed Certification Authority in the State had earned a name for itself by providing certified seeds to various States within the country as well as other countries.
The State Seed Certification Authority is also providing training by conducting workshops to officials of the seed certification from different States in the country, he added. It is in recognition of these efforts that the Centre had assigned seed certification officials of nine States in the country to State Seed Certification Authority.
Similarly, for the first time, the State had started an online seed certification method. This helped in preventing the supply and regulation of spurious seeds to the farmers.
Partha Sarathi said the innovation, new reforms introduced by the authority has made the State Seed Certification Authority Director Kesavulu the first member from Asia to get elected to the International Seed Testing Agency (ISTA).
Earlier, Partha Sarathi inaugurated the new office premises of the State Seed Certification Authority. Officials from the agriculture and the certification authority were present.
