Hyderabad: The Department of Energy, Government of Telangana, and Telangana State Renewable Energy Development Corporation Limited, in association with Elets Technomedia Private Limited organised National Power Summit at Taj Krishna on Friday. The main objective of the summit is to facilitate knowledge sharing and collaboration platform between the private and public sectors.

Telangana is on the threshold of emerging as a power surplus state in next few years. The State government, in line with the emphasis laid nationally and globally on the use of renewable energy, has been taking many initiatives to be at the forefront of renewable power generation and conservation.
Addressing the summit, Special Chief Secretary, Department of Energy government of Telangana, Ajay Misra said that the public sector has given a great contribution in the field of energy by providing more than 3,000 mega watts in last three years.
He said that in the next 4-5 months, 10,000 MW will be added in the thermal sector as we will have to relies on thermal sector in coming days. He also added that the State government is closely in talks to take up a policy of E-vehicles.
Joint Managing Director TS Genco and TS Transco, Srinivas Rao said that when Telangana was formed on June 2, 2014, there was a storage of power supply which lead to cut power cuts and various other problems but now, Telangana get 24 hours power supply with the great support of the State government.
He said that Telangana Solar policy is appreciated as best one in the country and Telangana state has the highest installed solar capacity of 3203 MW and stands number one in the country. He also added that the state has implement distributed generation model for adding solar capacity. He said that the state is planning to achieve over 20,000 MW power in the future from present 15,210 MW power generation achieved.
The summit witnessed panel discussions on the themes of Large, Medium Capacity Renewable Energy (Solar, Wind, Small Hydro) Generation and PV Tariff Design and way-forward, Demand and Supply and Challenges and Opportunities for future sector and Global Collaborations for Joint R&D projects.
