Hyderabad: The call given by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation to create organic fertiliser units through the garbage produced in their homes, has been received well. The State Minister for Agriculture, Talasani Srinivas Yadav also on Friday, participated in various campaigns in the Sanathnagar constituency here to promote segregation of wet and dry waste.

Several MLAs and public figures in the city, positively responded to the government’s call on establishing compost units. Already the GHMC senior officials and gazetted officers have begun the process of establishing compost fertiliser units in their homes.

Now, many legislators became role models to inspire the public of the city by establishing compost fertiliser units in their homes. The Swacch Bharat Mission has suggested that organic farming should be done in the households by separating wet and dry waste from each house as part of the Swachh Survekshan 2018.

GHMC officials have already established compost units in all parks, colonies, bulk garbage producing hotels and restaurants in the city. Recently, the compost units were set up in their residences with the public representatives of the city. Patancheru MLA Guduru Mahipal Reddy,

Rajendranagar MLA Prakash Goud, Amberpet MLA G Kishan Reddy, MLA M Krishna Rao, Malakpet MLA Ahmad Balala, Nampally MLA Jaffer Hussain Meraj, Charminar MLA Ahmed Pasha Quadri, Caravan MLA Kausar Mohiuddin and ward corporators also started compost units in their homes. In addition, the corporates are intent on establishing compost units individually in their colonies and bastis.
