Khammam: Minister for Roads and Buildings Tummala Nageswara Rao said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is well determined to eradicate poverty in the State. The Minister, who laid foundation stone for the Rs 2.10 crore road construction between Reddypalli and Kendriya Vidyalaya in Khammam Rural mandal on Saturday, said that since it came to power, the TRS government has introduce several welfare schemes for the upliftment of poor and downtrodden.

“No other State in the country has initiated welfare programmes on par with the Telangana government. Be it the double bedroom, pensions to old-aged, widows, physically challenged and single women, Shadi Mubarak, Kalyana Laxmi, all the schemes are aimed at bring a smile on the faces of poor,” Tummala said, reeling out other poverty alleviation measures taken by K Chandrashekar Rao. Referring to the Mission Bhagiratha, the Minister said that works taken up with an outlay of Rs 4,500 crore in the region are nearing completion. “All the households in the district will get protected drinking water by Ugadi,” Tummala asserted.

He said that alongside roads in the State, efforts are on to connect all the tandas and villages with road network. Zilla Parishad Chairperson G Kavitha, State Industrial Development Corporation Chairman Shaik Budan Baig, R&B Senior Executive P Narsimha Murthy, Khammam RDO Purnachandra, MPP M Lalitha, ZPTC Dharavath Bharathi and Sarpanch Lakinepalli Venkanna were among others present.
