Hyderabad: Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is taking up junction improvement work of about 100 junctions across the twin cities under Urban Junction Improvement Plan (UJIP). The coordinated effort of junction improvement was taken up at 30 junctions in phase-I by engineering wing of traffic and transportation.

Major objective of this initiative is to improve the movement of traffic, reducing journey time, facilitating free left movements, widening of roads at U-turns, and providing signages, road markings, reflectors, studs and other road safety measures to reduce accidents.

Officials in the engineering wing of GHMC informed that work at 20 junctions had commenced and was at various stages of progress. Works at six major junctions would be completed by March 18. Another 30 junctions are named to be improved in phase-II under Urban Junction Improvement Plan (UJIP) for which the traffic studies and topographic surveys are in progress.
