Amberpet pool still not ready
The mini swimming pool in Amberpet municipal ground is lying useless following the unprecedented delay in repair and renovation works and children are waiting for this to open.
Hyderabad: The mini swimming pool in Amberpet municipal ground is lying useless following the unprecedented delay in repair and renovation works and children are waiting for this to open.
Official apathy and negligence has led this pool not starting to function even summer has begun. The mini swimming pool was meant to give training to new swimmers and for the minors. However, the works have been delayed for months now. Generally, the swimming pools and stadiums are repaired and ready before the summer starts. The mini swimming pool repair works are being carried out for past two months at a cost of Rs 58 lakhs.
Swimming enthusiasts and children in the area are weary of the delay by the officials in completing the repair and restoration works. They complained that works were going on with a snail’s pace. This mini swimming pool has been very crucial every year for children who don’t know swimming. Trainers used to charge Rs 500 for imparting swimming training here every year. City Mayor Bonthu Rammohan had inaugurated the swimming pool in the same stadium but for adults and children pool still getting repaired.
It is to be noted that school holidays may begin in next 15 days or so and demand for the swimming pool will be high. The mini swimming pool has not been readied so far whereas the other one started functioning.
