The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is in preparation to construct 826 modern bus shelters including refurbishment of old bus shelters.

Under the public-private partnership (PPP) mode, the bids have been finalised with private developers for design, finance, operation, build and transfer (DBFOT) basis.

Speaking in this regard, Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao shared that the works will be completed within six months after final agreements are signed.

Responding to a question in the Legislative Council, KTR said that about 1,221 bus shelters are existing within GHMC limits and another 47 sites have been identified for development of bus bays.

The Minister further informed that four types of bus shelters were finalised by the GHMC and each design is graded based on amenities offered at the bus shelter.

The amenities include ticketing kiosks, drinking water, toilets, AC sitting areas, mobile charging points, closed-circuit television cameras and dustbins.

KTR said that the intention is to make the passengers travel in the city buses comfortable by setting up modern bus shelters with better amenities.
