Hyderabad: The Telangana government is gearing up for deploying drone surveillance for women security on IT corridor, most probably from next year onwards. Very soon, we’ll come out with a concrete plan on ensuring women safety, said a senior official.

Telangana IT Secretary Jayesh Ranjan said: “The idea was mooted at a Hackathon recently held in the city and many supported this. And we are in a very preliminary stage of this initiative. We plan to roll out drone surveillance for women security next year. More details will be worked out soon.”

Jayesh Ranjan on Thursday inaugurated ZenQ’s global headquarters here at Atria building, Ascendas ‘V’ IT park in Madhapur. He lauded ZenQ for having 46.5 per cent of women staff, which is much above the industry average of 30 per cent.

Speaking on the occasion, Jayesh further said: “The Telangana state government is exploring drone surveillance for women employees’ security in the IT corridor. The police stations in Cyberabad will operate drones, which when pressed a SoS call, can trace the caller and will reach in no time with siren alerting a whole lot of people.

The drone will be your first responder when women are in distress. We’ll announce more details very soon.” Jayesh further informed the gathering about various initiatives the Telangana state government, while adding that “a suspension bridge on Durgam Cheruvu is coming up to decongest the approach roads to IT corridor. An under pass and a flyover are also coming up at InOrbit Mall.

Metro Rail will be going from InOrbit Mall to the airport and this enables us to reach the airport within 30 minutes. The state government is keen on decongesting roads”. We are also seriously looking at the introduction of electric vehicles to reduce vehicular pollution. The state government is also in the process of setting up of new IT Parks as the existing ones are saturated, he added.

ZenQ’s 1.09 lakh sft new office has integrated all its three offices in the city into one.
