Speaking to officials at the crime meeting here on Friday, first time after he assumed charge, Ravinder elicited information about the progress of cases in various police stations in the Commissionerate. He told the officials not spare anyone who indulges in land grabbing and land dispute settlements.
He stressed the need for focusing on those involved in matka play and illegal trade of gutka, ganja etc. “Officials need to lay special emphasis on ganja cultivation and smuggling, besides keeping an eye on other offences,” Ravinder said.
Referring to the Nenu Saitham initiative, the Commissioner said that onus is on police to create awareness among the people about the significance of closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras that play a mammoth role in detecting and deterring crimes. This apart, the geo-tagging of CCTV cameras to be done for its effective usage, he added.
He said that police need to identify the accident zones and take preventive measures in such spots. Stringent action should be taken against those involved in spurious seed trade, Ravinder said, instructing the officials to be vigilant on those businessmen. Impetus will be on patrolling and cordon and search to stop criminal activity, he said.
“Officials need to adopt a plan of action for every crime while laying emphasis on clearing the pending cases,” Ravinder said. He said that high conviction rate brings down the crime incidence.
DCPs B Venkat Reddy, M Malla Reddy and R Venkateshwarlu, additional DCPs Puja and D Muralidhar were among others present.
