Abhivyakti holds annual day celebrations
Abhivyakti, the annual flagship event organised by Nayi Disha was held on March 24 at the Phoenix Area, Hitech City. Abhivyakti offered a platform for children with intellectual and developmental disability to express their creativity – through painting, dance and music and others.
Hitech City: Abhivyakti, the annual flagship event organised by Nayi Disha was held on March 24 at the Phoenix Area, Hitech City. Abhivyakti offered a platform for children with intellectual and developmental disability to express their creativity – through painting, dance and music and others. The programme was centred on Down Syndrome which is a congenital disorder caused by the presence of an extra 21st chromosome in a person.
Nayi Disha has also made efforts to engage neurotypical siblings and relatives in the annual programme to drive home the point around inclusion. The event was mostly organised by parents to celebrate the uniqueness of their special children.
Nayi Disha hopes that the joy and excitement that was reflected in each of the performances will inspire other parents to further nurture the talents of their children. Events like these are a reminder for all of us to recognise and respect the identity and abilities of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
