Hyderabad: It is more than likely that Information Technology Minister K T Rama Rao, considered heir apparent to Chief Minister KCR, would occupy most of the political space at the TRS’ plenary on April 27 here, leaving little doubt about who is calling shots in the party.

According to sources, KTR will guide the leaders on the subjects for discussion in the plenary and stress the importance of the event which is taking place a year ahead of elections. It is understood that even general secretaries of the party would get responsibilities from KTR both in conducting the plenary and implementing its decisions thereafter.

Source said the plenary would be more or less like a dress rehearsal for KCR to pass on the baton to KTR as the Chief Minister has set his eyes beyond Vindhyas at Delhi to craft a coalition of compatible parties to serve as Federal Front, an alternative to the BJP and the Congress.

Since this is the important plenary of the party, about 15,000 delegates from 119 Assembly constituencies are likely to attend it. The IT minister will be walking tall, briefing the leaders about the resolutions and the Chief Minister plans for the front. Already the resolutions (six) prepared by the party leaders have been approved by the Chief Minister.

The minister is learnt to have entrusted the responsibilities to the general secretaries to pass on the information relating to the resolutions to the invitees. Since the general secretaries will act as in-charges for districts, they would be coordinating with the district leaders attending the meeting.

According to sources, KTR would hold a meeting with these leaders on Thursday and would give them
necessary instructions on the plenary. After the plenary, the minister is likely to hold regular meetings with the party’s general secretaries.

After the plenary, KTR will summon the general secretaries once in every fortnight. These leaders would be taking the message of the party and the development programmes to the masses. “Entire country is looking towards the state as to how the crop investment support scheme to the farmers would pan out. The leaders should take this scheme to the farmers,” said KTR to the general secretaries.

While the TRS plenary would be a KTR show, KCR for his part would busy himself at the plenary with his Federal Front initiative. According to Home Minister N Narasimha Reddy, the political resolution would show the country the way forward.

The Home Minister along with Deputy Chief Minister Md Mahamood Ali, after inaugurating the media center at the plenary at Kompally on Tuesday, said KCR wants to bring qualitative change in the lives of the people in the country.
