Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao is keen on implementing farmers’ insurance scheme with government paying full premium without taking any contribution from the farmer. He proposed this model during a review meeting held with senior officials at Pragathi Bhavan on Tuesday evening.

The CM discussed the scheme including the insurance scheme offered by the Centre. Chandrashekar Rao expressed the view that the State should go on its own in implementing the scheme free of cost. He felt that insurance scheme of Rs 5 lakh to each farmer announced by the State government will show the way to the whole Indian farming community.

He directed senior officials to hold a meeting with officials of Life Insurance Corporation and fix the rate and for finalising other modalities. The CM desired that the officials should work with LIC officers and after thoroughly discussing, they should finalise the scheme. He said that the insurance paper should be prepared village-wise and mandal-wise and care should be taken regarding the entry of the name of the nominee.

KCR further said the issues of farming community should be addressed firmly and the farmers should be brought out of the trauma by implementing variety of schemes like the Investment Support Scheme, Insurance scheme and many more.

The CM said whatever might be the reason when the farmer dies the family should immediately get Rs 5 lakh as insurance amount.
