Bhadrachalam: CPM leaders and activists staged a protest and burnt the effigy of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at Ambedkar Center here on Wednesday.

Condemning the incidents of violence, including arson and threats, across West Bengal State on Monday, the day on which panchayat polls were conducted, party state leader AJ Ramesh said the attacks were shameful in that State. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, afraid of losing the panchayat elections, had encouraged the attacks, he alleged.

Former MLA and senior leader Kunja Bojji, leaders MB Narasa Reddy, Bhimavarpu Venkat Reddy, Bandaru Sarath Babu, M Renuka and others participated in the protest.
