Uppal sees rise in dengue cases
There is a rise in dengue cases in Uppal and it warrants an immediate plan of action to thwart the spread, say the Primary Health Centre (PHC) authorities.

• Dengue is caused by 1 of the 4 closely related dengue viruses
• Every year, around 390 million dengue infections are reported from across the world
• The fever is transmitted by the bite of aedes mosquito which is infected with dengue virus
• Dengue infection is highly contagious and can easily spread from one person to another.
According to Medchal-Malkajgiri district medical health officer Dr Dasya Naik there were 30 dengue cases last year alone and these were recorded ones, there must have been many cases that went unnoticed.
He was speaking as a chief guest at a rally that was organised at Uppal as part of National Dengue Day that was observed at the Primary Health Centre (PHC) here on Wednesday. Later, Dr Pallavi organised an awareness seminar on prevention of dengue. She also conducted a rally at Uppal ring road. Deputy DMHO Dr Narayana Rao, Md Sigbatulla and PHC staff took part.
Dr Pallavi said, dengue is transmitted by the bite of aedes mosquito and it was necessary to keep the surroundings clean and dry. The government has designated Friday as a dry day. She advised people not to keep empty coconut shells and cans as they breed mosquitoes and also make ensure that there were no water pools and puddles.
