Hyderabad: For the first time in the recent years the police conducted a massive cordon & search operation in the premises of Osmania General Hospital with 150 of its staff on Saturday evening.

Speaking to The Hans India, M Ramesh, DCP, East Zone said that to create a sense of security amongst the patients this operation was conducted. It was observed that several anti-social elements were found to be continuing in the premises, as traces of ganja, drugs and liquor bottles were found. He said that even though patients who still rely on the hospital for treatment and visit from far off districts, the condition of the hospital remained pathetic as illegitimate persons continue to stay in the premises posing threat to the patients and their attendants.

“I spoke to one of the patient who continue to rely on the treatment and have come for treatment here from other districts. Besides treatment the hospital should also provide security,” he noted. The official observed that in the wake of recent cases like alleged rape case, the hospital needed 82 CCTV cameras and better lighting in some places as there is considerable risk throughout the night. “There are wall breaks from where anyone can enter,” said the officer.
