The Hyderabad Division of South Central Railway has eliminated all Unmanned Level Crossings (UMLC) on all routes in its jurisdiction with completion of Road Under Bridge at the last UMLC on 25th May.

Hyderabad : The Hyderabad Division of South Central Railway has eliminated all Unmanned Level Crossings (UMLC) on all routes in its jurisdiction with completion of Road Under Bridge at the last UMLC on 25th May.

Secunderabad and Vijayawada divisions have already achieved the target by eliminating all the UMLCs. With these achievements entire Telangana and most of Andhra Pradesh states have become safe regions regarding safety at UMLCs.

In order to provide enhanced safety and avoid loss of human lives due to accidents at UMLCs, South Central Railway (SCR) General Manager Vinod Kumar Yadav focused on elimination of all Unmanned Level Crossings over the Zone. He took up the task with elaborate plan and meticulous approach to complete the mission.

In accordance with these directions, a record number of 60 UMLCs has been eliminated over the zone in the two months period of current financial year. The Zone has also prepared a road map to eliminate remaining 87 UMLCs over the jurisdiction by September 2018. The South Central Railway also eliminated 137 UMLCs during the financial year 2017-18 through various measures like Manning the gates, Construction of Road Under Bridges/ Limited Height Subways and by Diversion of road traffic.
