While the state government is yet to approve this key suggestion, it is expected to give a major boost to the students coming from financially weak families.

The government is already providing free education on the lines of corporate junior colleges, including coaching for competitive examinations of Joint Entrance Examination, National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test, Engineering and the Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test and textbooks for students of government junior colleges.

This year, the Telangana government is likely to implement the free bus pass scheme and a nutritious mid-day meal.

The BIE Secretary, A Ashok elaborated on the schemes and said that the free bus pass scheme is estimated to hold an expense of Rs 10 crore annually and the mid-day meal scheme is estimated to cost close to Rs 100 crore.

He further said that the proposals were submitted to the government and once approved, they will be implemented this academic year itself.
