Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is likely to make a presentation on his government’s flagship schemes – Rythu Bandhu and farmers' insurance schemes at NITI Aayog meeting to be held on Sunday in New Delhi.

Official sources said that K Chandrashekar Rao has prepared a note in digital format to make a power-point presentation on his government’s endeavour to promote farming a profitable profession by providing Rs 8,000 annual financial assistance per acre to every farmer and extend Rs 5 lakh insurance cover to the farmer families. Creation of crop colonies, adoption of new farm techniques, marketing facilities and the supply of fertilisers and seeds at farmers doorsteps will also be included in the presentation.

KCR will seek permission to make a presentation from NITI Aayog officials in the meeting. If there is any time constraint, the Chief Minister will speak on farmers welfare briefly. Officials said that Chandrashekar Rao is keen to explain the importance of special measures and needs to be taken to protect the distressed farmers from debt trap and explain his government's unique measures to strengthen the agriculture sector to all state Chief Ministers and also officials in the meeting.

The Chief Minister will also explain the importance of strengthening of tanks and water bodies to maintain ecological balance in the villages. He will also table a report on the outcome of his government's Mission Kakatiya programme under which nearly 30,000 water bodies were revived in the last four years. KCR will also highlight the Mission Bhagiratha scheme launched to supply potable drinking water to every household.
