A 25-year-old woman died as she was undergoing treatment at the Osmania Hospital on Saturday for post-operative complications, seven months after an alleged botched Caesarean section (C-section) surgery.

The woman, identified as G Haritha, a resident of Shabad in Rangareddy district gave birth to a baby girl on October 5, 2017, at a private hospital in Shadnagar.

However, she experienced continuous pain in the abdomen area after the C-Section surgery and throw up whatever she consumed. The woman’s family worried over condition admitted her to Osmania Hospital for treatment on April 27. They discovered about the botched surgery after a scan and that the doctors had left bandage and cotton inside the patient's stomach at the time of the surgery.

They informed that the doctors at the Osmania Hospital conducted a surgery on May 21 where the bandage and cotton were taken out from her stomach.

The woman, however, didn’t recover after the surgery.

The family have now lodged a complaint at Shadnagar police station and a criminal case under Section 304 (A) of the IPC for causing death by negligence was registered against two doctors - Dr Chandu Lal Rathod, a physician, and Dr Vijaya Lakshmi, a gynaecologist of the private hospital.

Meanwhile, the two doctors denied having conducted any such surgery adding that the family’s allegations are not true.
