Minister Talasani reviews bonalu arrangements

Minister for Animal Husbandry and Fisheries T Srinivas Yadav on Monday held a review meeting in Hyderabad on bonalu arrangements in the twin cities with police, revenue, GHMC, endowment, R&B and temple authorities.

He stated that the historic Ujjaini Mahankali temple (Secunderabad) Bonalu festivities will begin from July 15 and the main two-day annual Bonalu festival will commence from July 29.

The Minister later addressed the media and revealed that the Telangana government allocated substantial funds for bonalu festival celebrations every year with Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao declaring bonalu as a State festival.

Explaining the importance of the Secunderabad Mahankali temple, he shared that the gold bonam worth over Rs one crore will be offered to the goddess this year.

Mr Yadav urged all the department officials to make elaborate arrangements for the festival and at Mahankali temple by July 27 besides maintaining the hygienic conditions in and around the temple and erect barricades to regulate the huge rush of devotees.
