Many localities in Jalpally Municipality area were reeling under the problems of industrial waste, water contamination and pollution following the release of polluting waters from the industries in the area. RR Masala Company, Plastic industry, Battery Industry near Jalpally water reservoir has been the major sources of the pollution in the area. These factory managements have owned lands here under Jalpally revenue area and procured industry permits. Residents of Sriram Colony near Jalpally have complained that the factories function for six to seven hours daily releasing the poisonous gases in the air.

They said that the smoke of the factories has become a major health hazard for the people. Some locals have complained of thick smoke and approached the factory management only to face rude replies from the latter. Locals further allege that some people with high level connections and panchayat members were in connivance with industry managements. Sapatla Kiran, a local, said that there was a norm restraining the establishment of any industry within the radius of 10 km from the International Airport but authorities permitted the same. He alleged that many factories were resorting to produce duplicate and fake items there. There were several other factories which needed to be shut down or reined in, said locals.
