Jharasangam: Name of female farmer has been changed in pahani without her knowledge. In the pahani, there was over writing on her name incorporating another person’s name. She along with her husband made several rounds to government offices – right from Tahsildar to District Collector – to unearth facts, but the officials apparently non-cooperative. She pledged her pattadar passbooks with the Syndicate Bank Birdipur branch in 2009 to secure loan.

But nobody seems to have bothered about the problem of the woman farmer—Anjamma who hails from Birdipur in the mandal. The lady owns lands under survey numbers 115 and 116 and 22. She owned 4.18 acres, including one acre under Survey number 22. She pledged the passbooks in a bank in 2009 and obtained a loan, which she failed to repay. As part of land acquisition for the National Investment Manufacturing Zone (NIMZ) coming up at Zaheerabad, she came to know that ownership of her one acre land under Survey number 22 had been changed. When she sought clarifications from officials, there was no response at all. Her pattadar passbooks are still with the bank.

Her name as owner figured in the Pahani for 2007-2008. The revenue officials should mark it in ink in the relevant amendment book, but that did not happen. When The Hans India took the matter to the notice of the Tahsildar Ratna, she pleaded ignorance about it. Birdipur VRO Narsimlu told The Hans India that her name had been found changed in the pahani and maintained that he was not aware of the fact that who had done this at whose behest.

When asked whether the matter was taken to the notice of the higher officers, the VRO categorically stated that it was taken to the notice of the Tahsildar at Jharasangam. Anjamma along with her husband Antaiah with tears welling up in their eyes seek justice and want officials to take action against the guilty.
