Vikarabad: Fearing poor promotion prospects, lack of infrastructural amenities in the newly formed Vikarabad district, with an eye on higher incentives like the HRA applicable in places like Hyderabad, on account of poor transportation facilities in the district, over 2147 had applied online seeking transfer out of the district, which recently has been merged with the Jogulamba zone, against the total number of 814 teacher posts.

Teachers who have been put in a service of more than two years have sought transfer. However, priority will be given to those who have put in a service of at least five to eight years. In the newly created Vikarabad district, there are only two more municipalities and two more are in the pipeline. The district has 1.20-lakh students in various government schools. To teach them, a total of 4386 teachers are needed. Out of them 814 posts remained vacant on account of various reasons.

Out of the 2147 applicants, only one-third will be moved out of here. Citing children’s education and merging of Vikarabad with Jogulamba region, several have applied for transfer. Apprehensive about the zonal regulations, the teachers who are keen on leaving the place are apprehensive of getting languished here if they did not apply now. Even as the application process for transfers draws to a close, many male teachers are serious about moving out of the place, while females are keen to stay put in their home district.

If the teachers are to be transferred on promotion, they would have to go to the far-flung Jogulamba district in lieu of Hyderabad city, which is close by. If teachers want to reach the village of their place of posting, they have to wait for one hour for the autorickshaw to get filled.

So, the higher authorities are complaining against some of the teachers to the effect that they are not being punctual to the school. There are over 1024 government schools, including 748 primary and 118 upper primary schools. Over 2147 had applied for the transfer but the officials say that they will give preference to only those who have put in a service of five to eight years. The transfer process has become so complex this year unlike the earlier times.
