Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao on Wednesday hit out at Congress President Rahul Gandhi and challenged him to prove the charges he made against the Telangana government.
Rahul Gandhi during his recent Telangana tour had said that the TRS regime enhanced the cost of the Kaleshwaram project from Rs 30,000 crore to Rs 1 lakh crore by redesigning it.
Responding to the allegation, Harish Rao clarified that he should be aware that the Pranahitha-Chevella project’s first GO was issued for Rs 17,000 crore and Central Water Commission approved the cost of Kaleshwaram project at Rs 80,190 crores and not Rs 1 lakh crore.
The Minister further added that the GO for the Pranahitha-Chevella project was issued for Rs 17,000 crore during Congress rule and a detailed project report was prepared for Rs 40,000 crore by 2010, questioning Rahul Gandhi the reason behind the increase of the project cost.
