Govts have been cheating journalists with hollow promises

Khammam: Telangana Union of Working Journalists (TUWJ-IJU) convenor Mysa Papa Rao on Friday alleged that the governments have been cheating journalists for two decades with hollow promises.

The representatives of TUWJ-IJU and other media organizations are staging relay hunger strike here at the Dharna Chowk in Khammam, demanding the government to allot housing sites to all journalists who are working in various media organisations across the State.

Speaking on the occasion, M Papa Rao said that for two decades journalists have demanding the successive governments to issue health cards and housing sites but the governments failed to concede their demands.

After the formation of Telangana State, scribes thought that the TRS government would fulfill their demands but TRS party, which promised the journalists that it would allot housing sites and construct double bedroom houses before going to polls, also deceived them and did not fulfill the same till today, he alleged. The agitations will be intensified under TUWJ-IJU in coming days, he said.

The TPCC Campaign Committee chairman and former MLA Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, BJP State secretary K Sridhar Reddy, district president of the TDP party Tulluri Brahamaiah and Padma Shri awardee Vanajeevi Darepalli Ramaiah visited the Dharna Chowk and extended their support to Journalists who are staging relay hunger strike.
