Khammam: The announcement of the 105 candidates in the first list by TRS president and caretaker Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao generated political heat among all political parties. It has led to palpable tension among aspirants in all parties, including the TRS.
The TRS party after coming to the power in 2014, many of its leaders and party loyalists, who have remained loyal to the party right from the beginning, and those who did not get tickets during 2014 elections, pinned their hopes that the party would give them some posts, but when that too has not happened, believing that this time the party would recognise them and their services. They expected that the party would field in one or other constituency in the ensuing Assembly elections.
But all their hopes were dashed, when the TRS President announced the names of 105 candidates which included sitting MLA’s and the names of those who defected from other parties. To face the TRS party in coming up Assembly elections, the Congress party along with TDP, CPI and TJS decided to form a grand alliance. With this, the aspirants within these parties are feeling worried lest they may not get ticket because of seat sharing.
Besides this, some leaders who are confident of getting ticket in seat sharing are now heaving a sigh of relief with the grand alliance and are sure enough to win with the support of other parties.
The situation is complicated in certain constituencies in Khammam districts as there is a tough competition for some seats with two or three candidates vying for tickets for each seat. Some of the leaders of Congress, TDP and TJS of grand alliance has strong candidates in some constituencies. If ticket is allotted to any one of the candidates, the hopes of other leaders will be dashed.
Out of five constituencies in the Khammam district, the grand alliance has two sitting MLA’s, Congress in Madhira and TDP in Sattupalli. The CPI party is demanding that it be allotted Wyra constitutency. But there is a tough competition among Congress, TDP and TJS parties. All three parties are strongly demanding that their respective candidates be fielded from Khammam constituency, where as in Palair, the Congress and TDP are in competition.
