GHMC lifts 7,300 metric tonnes of garbage

Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) lifted 7,300 metric tonnes of garbage waste. Usually the GHMC collect around 4,500 metric tonnes of garbage everyday but on Sunday 2,060 metric tonnes of garbage was lifted. From September 21 Moharrum till Monday, an additional 7,300 metric tonnes of garbage was lifted and transported to 17 transfer stations.
  
The Ganesh immersion processions were taken up to the extent of 370 kms and 8,600 sanitation workers deployed to clear the garbage on priority. Main roads like Tank Bund, Necklace Road, NTR Marg, Basheerbagh and other areas where thousands of people participated in the processions. When compared to yesteryears, it used to take more than two days to lift the garbage.

Close to 10,000 personnel from Entomology and sanitation department were deployed. Several complaints were received in myghmc app, Control room, dial 100 etc., this shows the effective working of the officials. Majority of complaints pertained to  streetlights, manhole overflow and power failure. This year around 80,000 Ganesh Idols at 35 locations were immersed in various areas of the GHMC limits and 15,500 idols have been immersed in Tank Bund alone. This time around 34,886 idols have been immersed in 23 mini ponds provided by the GHMC officials.
