Sanitation workers go on strike against unpaid wages

Secunderabad: Sanitation workers of Secunderabad Cantonment area are on strike starting from today against their non-payment of wages from August month. There are about 420 sanitation workers under the board area who gets Rs 553 per day.

"The contractors and other officials have not paid us salaries for two months," a worker said. On the other hand, the sanitation contractors too lamented that they had given three-month salaries to the workers from their pockets. 

Meanwhile, a contractor that they have submitted the bills to the SCB, but the board have not released the funds yet.

The SCB officials also admitted to non-payment of salaries for sanitation workers was due to lack of funds.
