Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has set a deadline of November 15 for all Bulk Garbage Generators (BGGs) to install onsite compost machines. All buildings occupied by the central and state governments local bodies, public and private sector undertakings, hospitals, nursing homes, schools, colleges, universities, other educational institutions, hostels, hotels (food processing units), commercial establishments, markets, places of worship, stadiums, sports complexes, clubs, resident welfare associations and gated communities, bus stations, railway stations and others that generate an average waste at a rate exceeding 100 kg per day (of all waste streams put to gether) come under BGGs, as per the Solid Waste Management Rules of 2016. Accordingly, GHMC served notices and paper notifications to all BGGs insisting them to install on-site compost machines. To enforce the rule in full swing, the GHMC has set November 15 as a deadline for all the BGGs. The GHMC will take action against all those BGGs that fail to comply without prior intimation.

For the convenience of Bulk Garbage Generators (BGGs), the GHMC will conduct an exhibition of Onsite Waste Composting Machines on November 13 at People’s Plaza, Necklace Road, from 11 am to 5 pm with demo and sale of all kinds of on-site compost machines. All the leading machine manufacturers and suppliers will be participating in the exhibition. The GHMC will also provide space and power supply to the machine manufactures and suppliers to give demo to visitors. In this regard, the GHMC appealed to all the BGGs to participate in exhibition. According to GHMC, all the BGGs are expected to cooperate and undertake immediate required action in implementing the rule.
