Keep tabs on expenditure of candidates, officials told

Bhongir: Election Expenditure Observer S Veera Muttu has directed officials concerned to maintain transparency in discharging of their assigned election duties.

On Monday, he conducted meeting with assistant election expenditure recording officials of Yadadri- Bhongir district including static survey lines, flying squad, video surveillance, accounting and excise teams in Bhongir and discussed the steps to be taken while recording candidates’ election expenditure.

He instructed officials to keep tab on legal and illegal expenditures of the candidates very carefully. He advised them all programs without permission must be considered as illegal expenditure and respective teams must know about the meetings, rallies and other election related events in order to avoid any untoward incidents and to record all the incidents.

All the teams must submit daily report by 6 pm and keep tab on Rs 1 lakh transactions; also officials of IT must focus on transactions above Rs 10 lakh. He suggested them to keep observation on distribution of gifts and cash coupons etc.

Stating that every candidate must open new bank account and all transactions must be carried out through the new account only, he directed expenditure registering officials to check the expenditure of contesting candidates frequently.

Maintaining that there is a scope to shift money illegally through ambulances, by hiding in car bonnets, car door panels, on the top of buses, he advised static survey lines teams to be alert round the clock while checking vehicles at check posts.

He instructed them to ask the people to produce proper evidences, who are carrying Rs 50 thousands. On this occasion, he gave power point presentation to the official regarding steps to be followed while registering expenditure of contesting candidates.

In this programme, District Election Officer, Collector Anitha Ramachandran, District  Special Election Officer Priyanka, DRO Venkat Reddy , Excise Superintendent Krishna Priya, Choutuppal RDO suraj Kumar and others participated.
